Entrepreneurs: Join Me This Friday In Supporting Dave Calone for Congress!

It’s not often that we have a chance to put a real supporter of entrepreneurs into Congress.

We did it awhile back, when we voted Jared Polis into U.S. Congress as Colorado’s 2nd District Representative.

It’s been awesome to watch Jared take a stand on important issues.  Just read his Wikipedia page to get a sense of what his track record is.  Go ahead, this post will be waiting for you when you get back.

Now, we have a chance to elect another huge supporter of entrepreneurship and innovation.  This time with Dave Calone for a House seat in New York!

I am co-hosting a happy hour fundraiser to support Dave Calone on Friday, June 12th at 4:30pm at Techstars Boulder and I’d love for you to join me!

Here is the invitation (PDF)

The fundraiser is only $100 per guest, and space is limited! It will be well worth it.  Dave will be there.  Nicole Glaros will be there.  Yoav Lurie will be there.  And so will a bunch of our Techstars friends!

Please check out the invite, and RSVP to laura@caloneforcongress.com and CC me – bart@fullcontact.com.

You can donate easily online at caloneforcongress.com.

Dave is an amazing entrepreneur and angel/venture investor who has been active in the Boulder tech community for the last seven years as a mentor and board member.

I should know.  He was an early believer and investor in FullContact and has been supportive for the last four years.  I can’t thank him enough for not only his financial support, but for his advice and his counsel during the inevitable ups and downs of the startup journey.

This is a guy who really gets what it takes to be an entrepreneur.

As a result, Dave has been a leader in advocating for federal policies that would support the formation of more early-stage companies – including helping to create the Congressional Caucus on Innovation and Entrepreneurship as well as Start-Up Day Across America.

Not only that, but Dave currently serves as the Board Chair of “Patriot Bootcamp powered by Techstars” – which helps veterans and active duty service members get started as tech entrepreneurs. He also heads the Long Island Emerging Technologies Fund, which helps provide initial funding to early stage technology companies emerging from Long Island’s research labs.

Dave has long been involved in public service, including currently serving at the chair of the Suffolk County Planning Commission (where he has been nationally recognized for his regulatory reform work) and previously serving as a federal prosecutor (think: Law and Order) where he helped prosecute cases focusing on international economic crime and terrorism.

So please join me in supporting Dave!  See you in Boulder on Friday!
