Card Reader for iOS v3.0

CardMunch Shuts Down – Here's the Alternative You Need

There’s some unfortunate news today for users of LinkedIn’s CardMunch application – the service is shutting down as of June 23rd, 2014. This will sadly leave a lot of people looking for a CardMunch alternative. But every cloud has a silver lining, and this one looks a lot like FullContact Card Reader.

LinkedIn’s answer to CardMunch users is to begin scanning cards into Evernote. While Evernote itself is a great service, it’s not exactly the most ideal of places to try to manage your contacts. On top of that, CardMunch’s success was due in no small part to its use of real people to transcribe your business cards. With Evernote, that won’t be the case. “OCR [computer scanning] is our core competency,” according to Evernote CEO Phil Libin.

The CardMunch Replacement

We’ve spent the past four years at FullContact working solely with contacts. We know how important they are, and we know where people want to use them. That’s why we’re pushing harder than ever to get our mobile apps for the FullContact Address Book out the door. But the very idea of scanning a business card and then not being able to send that information to your phone’s address book just doesn’t make sense to us.

If you’ve not yet used FullContact Card Reader, there’s never been a better time to give it a try. Like CardMunch, we use real people to transcribe your cards, because accuracy matters. You can scan into your phone’s contacts, Salesforce, Google Contacts and even the FullContact Address Book. We’ll give you 10 free card scans, so there’s absolutely no risk involved. Oh, and it’s available for both iOS and Android.

Want more? OK. We have some huge news coming up next week that is going to make Card Reader even better.

It’s never a good day when we see a company choosing to close part of their business. But perhaps the more worrisome part is the customers who would be left out in the cold. If you’re a CardMunch customer and need a way to easily get accurate contacts into your phone, we’d love it if you’d give us a try.

Your contacts are too important to be someone’s side project. Take a few minutes to export those contacts from LinkedIn, and store them somewhere that makes sense for you. If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask. We’re here to help.

Scan business cards into 250+ apps with just an iPhone or Android photo.
